Frequently asked questions
I love walking, swimming, taking pictures …, is there time for it?
Of course! We sail to beautiful places and offer you there the opportunity to walk, photograph or undertake other activities. Where exactly that will be and how much time there is, depends, among other things, on the weather and the wind.
I travel alone, do I have to pay a surcharge?
No, if you travel alone, you don’t pay more than someone who travels and books with other people. However, if you want to book a twin cabin all for yourself, you will pay a surcharge. Please contact us for this.
How much luggage can I take?
The space for luggage in your cabin is limited but certainly adequate. It is very important to know that you cannot take a hard suitcase with you. So please put your luggage in a backpack or travel bag that you can fold. You will be grateful for this advice.
Is it possible to embark earlier on the day of my arrival?
On the day of your arrival, the crew is busy with the supplies and preparing the ship for the next expedition. Therefore, embarking earlier in the day is not possible. From 4 pm we are at your disposal and are looking forward to welcome you a board with a drink.
Can I travel with an identity card or do I need a passport?
For EU citizens: an identity card is sufficient for destinations within Europe. You need a passport outside of Europe.
How do I travel to the place of departure?
Our trips always start in a place with a good airport or railway connection. You book your own flight or train tickets, so that you can arrive a few days earlier or stay longer afterwards, if you wish (we recommend you to do so).
If you book early, your tickets might be a lot cheaper and you can choose the best seats and time schedule. From most airports a shuttle bus goes to the place where our ship is located. We will let you know in time where exactly you can find the ship.
How do I travel from the airport or railway station to the harbour?
When you arrive at the airport or railway station, you can usually take a shuttle bus or a taxi to the harbour or quay where our ship is docked. Sometimes it’s even close enough to walk. We will let you know in time where exactly you can find the ship. If necessary, you get directions how to travel from the shuttle bus stop to the ship. If you can’t find the ship in the harbour, don’t hesitate to contact us.
Do I need sailing experience to make an expedition with SeaWind Adventures?
No, it’s not necessary to have any sailing experience. During the trip the crew learns you all you need to help sail the ship. But keep in mind that without your help, the expedition cannot take place. So we do expect that you are willing to help hoist the sails, pick up the anchor or stand on the helm. Someone who can tied up the fenders and lines after departure is always needed!
What should I do if my flight or train has a delay?
We recommend that you book a flight or train ticket that offers you some clearance (arrive for example one or half a day in advance, or in some cases even two days in advance). In this way, you can travel as relaxed as possible and come on board in time and without any stress.
Do you have a delay and cannot embark on time? Please call us as soon as you can (+31 (0) 6 4577 6163 or +31 (0) 6 1880 7046), then we know that you are on the move and we can discuss together how and when you can come on board.
How can I book an expedition?
Booking online is very easy and secure. On the webpage of the trip you wish to make, please click on the orange button which says: Book now! You enter the booking form, fill in the required data and can choose your payment method. Would you rather contact us by telephone? Just call us. We’re happy to help you.
I travel alone, can I book a single-cabin?
There are four twin cabins on board. If you wish to book a twin cabin for yourself, we have to charge a surcharge. Please contact us for this, by telephone or e-mail.
I’m not very sporty. Can I sail with you?
Yes, you don’t have to be sporty to participate in our expeditions. We do expect you to help with sailing. And that you are in good health, can embark and disembark without assistance, and have a normal condition. Are you in doubt? Call us to consult.
Will we also go ashore during the sailing trip?
Sure we do! Especially with a sailing vessel we have the opportunity to go to places that are not accessible by land. This is your opportunity to go ashore with the dinghy. Take your camera and hiking shoes with you. We’ll also visit nice places or cities along the way so you can meet the local people and culture.
How will I find the ship in the harbour?
After you’ve booked, you get a confirmation email and we’ll let you know where the ship is located upon your arrival. If the harbour master might change our berth last minute, we’ll update you accordingly via email, text message or phone. We’ll make sure you don’t have to search for us! (and you can of course always call us).
I’m travelling alone, do I share a cabin with someone else?
When traveling alone you normally share a cabine with someone else (of the same sex). If the cruise is not fully booked then we’ll try to accommodate single guests with their own cabin.
When is the best time to book a trip?
We advise not to wait too long getting your trip booked. We have a limited number of spots available each trip and our experience is that our sailing trips to extraordinary places are booked way in advance. Also keep in mind that flights and trains are often a lot cheaper when booked in advance.
