Sailing between the isles of the Lofoten…

… is to enjoy the wild nature. With our sturdy sailing ship, we dock at typical Norwegian villages or drop anchor in a deserted bay. During this sailing trip, you'll have plenty of opportunity to hike, visit a museum, or grab a drink on a terrace in one of the cozy villages of perhaps the most beautiful part of Norway. And of course, you'll help sail the ship in between. Who knows, we might even sail through the night. A special experience now that the sun no longer sets here.

Sailing with SeaWind Adventures means

  • Experience... sailing above the Arctic Circle, along the most beautiful islands of the Lofoten
  • Enjoy... actively sailing along and enjoying the most beautiful islands of Norway

Midsummer Night in the Lofoten: The day-to-day itinerary

  • Day

    1

You will arrive in the port of Bodø in the late afternoon. Our sailing ship, the Baltic, is docked here. We'll show you around the ship so you'll quickly feel at home, and we've prepared a delicious meal for you. After dinner, it's time for a safety briefing and you'll hear the sailing plans for tomorrow. Afterward, you can get to know your fellow travelers and the crew over a drink.

  • Day

    2-4

After breakfast, we cast off the lines and sail out of the harbor. Together we hoist the sails, and you'll take turns helping with steering or trimming the sails. If the wind is favorable, we'll cross the Vestfjorden to the southernmost islands of the Lofoten. We then sail north along a chain of islands.

  • Day

    5-6

We dock in a few of the beautiful harbors of the Lofoten, for example in Reine, the Nusfjord, or Henningsvær. Discover how Norwegian fishermen lived here in the past, dried their fish, and maintained their boats. It was only in 2007 that all the islands of the Lofoten were connected by bridges and tunnels; until then, everything went by water. Just like we are doing now.

  • Day

    7-9

We sail further north and enjoy the impressive mountains and vistas. Perhaps we'll sail on to the small island of Skrova, where we can take an excursion through the rocky, azure waters with the dinghy. Those who love hiking can climb Skrova fjellet for a breathtaking view.

From Skrova, it's an hour's sail to the final destination of this trip: Svolvær. Svolvær is the capital of the Lofoten, with about 5,000 inhabitants. You can grab a drink on a terrace, buy souvenirs, or (for the experienced climbers among us) venture on the trek to the top of the famous Svolværgeita, the goat rock.

  • Day

    10

The day begins with a delicious breakfast, and then it's time to pack your things. After 10 wonderful days of sailing between the many islands of the Lofoten, it's time to say goodbye to your fellow travelers and travel back home. Or perhaps you'll stay a few more days in Svolvær and the surrounding area to enjoy the pleasant life above the Arctic Circle a little longer. In any case, you'll have plenty of stories to tell at home.
