Welcome aboard sailing vessel Baltic<\/h1>\n

Sailing on the sturdy two-masted sailing ship Baltic is sporty, safe and pleasant. Thanks to her weight, hull shape and sail lining, the ship is stable in the water. With a maximum of 8 people on board, you really are part of the expedition. You actively sail with the crew and at the same time enjoy life at sea and along the coasts. Taking pictures, reading a book in the cozy salon or preparing a meal in the galley, it’s all possible.<\/p>\n

The Baltic was built to a design by the famous naval architect Colin Archer. At the end of the 19th century he designed the ship named Fram for the polar expeditions of the Norwegian explorers Fridtjof Nansen and Roald Amundsen. At the time, Colin Archer also designed the boats for the Norwegian rescue brigade and a wooden racing yacht for the Danish royal family, the Vesta. The design of the Baltic is based on the latter ship.<\/p>\n

Our sailing ship was built in Hoorn, in the Netherlands, in the period 1988-1991, to drawings and on the initiative of Evert Verkerk. The Baltic has a few sister ships that were built in the Netherlands during that same period. One of them is also called Vesta, just like the ‘primal model’. The other two are the Holland and the Zeearend, both privately owned sailing in the Netherlands.<\/p>\n

The Baltic is specially equipped for expeditions in the Arctic and the North Atlantic. The doghouse, which spans part of the cockpit, offers all-round visibility through the large windows. It can be closed at the back, so that you can also stay in it at low temperatures. A navigation corner has been set up here on the starboard side.<\/p>\n

The ship has 4 twin cabins, each with its own shower and toilet (en suite). The salon has a cozy sitting area with a small library, a navigation table and a galley. From there you enter the back quarters for the crew.<\/p>\n
